A quick, budget-friendly, and comforting meal made in one pan!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, pork, or chicken)
- 12 small potatoes (or more), diced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream soup (mushroom, chicken, or your favorite)
- ¾ cup milk (or substitute with water + sour cream)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Colby Jack, or preferred cheese)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp onion powder (optional)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp oil or butter (if needed for cooking)
Instructions:
- Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground meat until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Cook the Potatoes: Add the diced potatoes to the skillet. Stir occasionally and cook until tender, about 10-15 minutes. If needed, add a bit of oil or butter to prevent sticking.
- Make the Sauce: Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in the cream soup and milk (or substitute). Mix well to coat the potatoes and meat evenly.
- Season & Simmer: Add salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you like. Let everything simmer for about 5 minutes to blend flavors.
- Add Cheese & Serve: Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top. Let it melt, then serve warm.
Optional Add-ins:
- Stir in frozen veggies (peas, corn, or green beans) for extra nutrition.
- Add crumbled bacon or diced ham for more flavor.
- Top with crispy fried onions or crushed crackers for crunch.
