Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 box (15.25 oz) orange cake mix
1 cup orange soda
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
For the Filling and Topping:
1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup whole milk
1 cup orange juice
1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)
1 teaspoon orange zest (optional for garnish)
Directions
Prepare the Cake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large bowl, mix together the orange cake mix, orange soda, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Filling:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix, milk, and orange juice until thickened.
Refrigerate for 5 minutes to set.
Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread half of the pudding mixture on top.
Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining pudding mixture over the top and sides.
Top and Garnish:
Spread the whipped topping evenly over the cake.
Sprinkle with orange zest if desired for a pop of flavor and color.
