MY FAVORITE CASSEROLE – CABBAGE CASSEROLE
It’s almost the same recipe as “slow cooker layered cabbage”, but the rating is quite different…lol…yes it can be frozen and yes it can be done in a slow cooker. I make both recipes and it is very good. Otherwise I freeze a savoy cabbage and thaw it. The leaves come off and roll easily to make cabbage rolls with the same ingredients.
*INGREDIENTS
°1 lb ground beef
°1/2 t. chopped onion
°1 minced garlic clove
°4 t. stewed tomatoes
°1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
°1/2 t. instant rice
°1 medium green cabbage, coarsely chopped
°1 bay leaf
°salt and pepper, to taste
°1 tablespoon(s) sour cream
*PREPARATION
In a skillet, brown the ground beef, minced onion and garlic until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are translucent. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and simmer for an hour. Add water if necessary. Remove the bay leaf before serving. Spoon sour cream on top and reheat.
