Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients:
For the Hamburger Steaks:

1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg
-
1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tbsp oil or butter (for frying)
For the Mushroom Gravy:

2 tbsp butter
-
1 small onion, thinly sliced

8 oz (225 g) fresh mushrooms, sliced

2 tbsp all-purpose flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Make the Patties:
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal oval-shaped patties.
2. Cook the Steaks:
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
3. Make the Gravy:

In the same skillet, melt butter.

Add sliced onions and mushrooms. Cook until softened and browned, about 6–8 minutes.

Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stir, and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir constantly until smooth.

Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
4. Combine & Serve:
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet. Spoon gravy over the top and simmer for another 5 minutes.
