Soft, chewy, and bursting with bits of tart cherries and melty chocolate chips—these cookies are a sweet twist on the classic favorite!
Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup dried cherries (or chopped maraschino-style cherries, drained well)
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
Fold in dried cherries and chocolate chips.
Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but centers are still soft.
Let cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Tips
For extra cherry flavor, soak dried cherries in grape juice for 10 minutes, then drain before adding.
Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
These freeze well—just thaw at room temp or warm briefly in the oven before serving.
