Avocado Grilled Cheese Recipe
Ingredients:
-
2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or your choice)
-
1 ripe avocado
-
2–3 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
-
1 tablespoon butter (softened)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional: sliced tomato, spinach, red onion, or garlic powder
Instructions:
-
Prepare the avocado
Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash it with a fork until smooth or leave it slightly chunky, based on your preference. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. You can also mix in a little lemon juice to prevent browning. -
Assemble the sandwich
Spread the mashed avocado on one side of a slice of bread. Layer the cheese slices on top. If using optional ingredients like tomato or spinach, add them here. Top with the second slice of bread to close the sandwich. -
Butter the bread
Spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of both slices of bread. This helps the bread turn golden and crisp when grilled. -
Grill the sandwich
Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down lightly with a spatula to help it cook evenly.
