Potato Patties with Meat Filling

Ingredients
For the Potato Patties:

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup (100ml) milk
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 cup (30g) butter
  • 1.1 lbs (500g) potatoes, peeled and mashed
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced

For the Meat Filling:

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp rosemary, chopped
  • 1 bunch of spring onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup (60g) butter
  • 1/2 lb (250g) ground beef
  • 1 cup (200ml) cream
  • A bunch of parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp flour

For Frying:

  • 2 cups (400ml) sunflower oil

Directions

  1. Cook the Meat Filling: In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp butter. Add chopped onions, garlic, and rosemary, and sauté until softened. Add ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned. Stir in flour to thicken, then add cream and cook until the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Form the Patties: Take a portion of the potato mixture and flatten it in your hand. Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center and mold the potatoes around the filling to form a patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture and filling.
  3. Fry the Patties: Heat sunflower oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties on both sides until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Prepare the Potato Mixture: Boil and mash the potatoes. In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with 2 beaten eggs, milk, butter, garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
  5. Serve: Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Garnish with  before serving.
